As it is a mainly outdoor activity, paintball is generally played in fields. Firing paintballs at the opposition is the primary objective of most paintballs games, with two teams fighting eachother to win the game. Paintball is played using relatively cheap paintball guns that are gas-powered, with hoppers that hold the paintballs. Players will be given a paintball gun and a coverall suit to protect their clothes from the paint when they get hit. Vegetable oil and food colouring make up the “paint” of paintballs, and their outer casing is made of gelatin so on hitting its target the ball bursts and leaves a splash of colour. Paintballs are only provided in a limited amount at the start of the day and you will have to buy additional paintballs as the day progresses to make sure you don’t run out.
There are a lot of different game types that can be played, some are all about eliminating the opposing team, others are about capturing a flag. There are games that suit everyone which means that all levels of fitness and ability are catered for.
