A two wheel vehicle that is powered is called a motorcycle. Motorcycles are categorized under three categories. They are street, off-road and dual purpose motorcycles. The motorcycles designed for transportation are street bikes. Examples of street bikes are scooters, sport bikes, mopeds and cruisers. Motorcycles made specifically with the intent of racing are called off-road motorcycles. These are, for instance, involved in dirt-oriented racing. These motorcycles are not lawfully permitted to be used for transportation. There are then the dual purpose motorcycles. These are used for transportation as well as racing.
Scooters are not designed to take on rough roads and terrain as the street bikes. Scooters give a smooth ride and prefer relatively smooth and plain terrain. Scooters have undergone a number of innovations. They have become bigger in size incorporating engine displacements of over 250cc. They are tougher than the typical scooter. There are the maxi-scooters and motor-scooters in the market. They are capable of taking on tougher driving conditions.
