Did you know that Golf was invented in Scotland?

Golf was invented in Scotland, and dates back to at least the 17th century, possibly even earlier – the name is believed to come from an Old German word, ‘gowf’, meaning a club or bat. There are many vary old golf courses in Scotland, most famously St. Andrews, but The oldest golf course in the world is Musselburgh Links . It is believed that the reason golf courses today have 18 holes is that St. Andrews only had room for nine, but the early golfers decided to play the course through twice each time.

Save Your Golf Club From This Economy By Not Following The Traditional Methods of Marketing!

Golf clubs across the country are closing down and going out of business across the United States of America at an scary rate. Florida, the state with more golf clubs than any other state, is seeing this more and moreas time goes on. A lot of these “failing” golf communities are blaming the economy, and some are even blaming the current state of the golf world in general; but I see things differently, they should be pointing the finger at themselves.

The golf industry is behind the times in almost every core aspect of running a business in this day and time. Most golf courses still have a website that provides no information, it does not collect any data from people visiting it, and looks like something that my 12 year old daughter could create in a few hours. These golf clubs need to embrace technology and develop a website that both promotes AND generates business. There are a handful of golf marketing businesses that specifically create websites to help generate more business for golf clubs, why aren’t more clubs taking advantage of them?

Ping Golf Clubs

For a golfer, one of the most important things that he should examine is his golf club because according to experts, it is one of the main reasons why they do not hit the ball correctly. This is the exact reason why the Ping golf club was created.

Karsten Solheim was the one who invented the ping golf club with different intentions. The story has it that Karsten was practicing golf but he could not hit the ball so he started to practice up to the time that he began to design and experiment his very own putter so that he could play better through it. He thought of designing his own putter without a figment of a though that it would be known worldwide.

Draw Up Your Own Golf Scorecard

It’s a Sunday morning in the Golf Shop at Winterfield Golf Club and I am passing out scorecards for the weekly golf competition, when in walks Jim, a Golf Club member grumbling about his bad luck on the golf course. I asked him what’s wrong and he said that they should do something about the 13th hole. I can never make a par there he says, it always messes up my scorecard as well as a few other holes I could mention

I knew Jim to have a mid to high handicap so I asked him exactly what it was he was playing off these days I play off a 17 handicap he said. before we go any further The 13th Hole at our golf course is a 368yd par 4 with a stroke index of 2. So I asked Jim what is your par for that hole? It’s a par 4 Kevin you know it is, he replied. It is for me I said, but what’s your par? He looked at me with a vacant stare so I proceeded to put him out of his misery.

Learning The Game On a Public Golf Course

Many golfers repeatedly claim that a bad day on the golf course beats the best day at work every time and very few will argue. Whether they are male or female, young or old the goal is all the same to come away from the golf course with a feeling of accomplishment. Not so much in having their lowest score ever recorded, but more for being able to get away from the worries of home and work and spend their concentration on the intricacies of the game of golf.

While many tournaments pit players against one another, to the golfer on the public golf course, it is not enough to have a better score than their competition. While cruising around the course, most rarely consider how well, or how bad, the other person is performing. Instead, they are competing against the golf course and not the other players in the contest. It is not until the end of the round that scores are tallied and then the friendly banter begins and the trash  talk begins about beating them the next time.
