One of the sad effects of our modern day and age in medicine is how birth and delivery have become a medical procedure.
That may sound strange because most people consider delivery to be a medical event.But that is the main issue. It is not a medical event. It is an event that can be kept natural and as private as possible through alternatives. Women
should be notified to the fact there are alternate ways.
Pregnancy, what a special time for women. Well, I guess aside from the sickness. But beyond that, the expectation of a new baby coming is exciting.
Usually, for a lot of women, how they are going to deliver the baby isn’t the big question.Because most women just do it the usual way which is a medical procedure which includes hospitalization, doctors, and drugs.
Pregnancy and the act of labor and delivery, although joyful, also a source of pain. Obviously joy because of the new baby, but ask any woman, and they will tell you a source of unspeakable pain.
Well because of the pain that woman go through, there are two different schools of thought on how labor and delivery should happen. I am going to offer some perspective on one particular school of thought that I have gained first hand experience with by being a homebirth midwife San Diego.
